Learning Through Practical
Confucius gladly stated " I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." I believe this statement of his is very true and applies to the children of this generation. With modernization, the children born in this era are all digital dependent. They learn everything by surfing through the net on their phones. As per the
research servey conducted by the experts, it is found that children learn more through practicals than through theory classes. Just as how the word "practical" sounds, students can put the words that their mentor stated to practice. Since in theory classes there is mainly involvement of the teacher reading and explaining the text, the learners might not be able to grasp the concept well as they cannot visualize the concept. But conducting practicals, they can learn much more than through theory classes. If I state some of the advantages of learning through practicals, it adds a fun factor to learning. We all are aware that children outside their classes use technology in all aspects of their life. With use if computers and PCs during their practical, it adds a bit of a fun in their daily learning. It will also improve skill set. Practical lessons have the unique ability to help students apply their classes in their non-classroom environment. While it is equally important to learn theory classes, applying theory into practical enables learners to build basic skills such as problem solving. To sum up all the points stated so far, students learn better when they are taken through practical lessons.

Well reflected on both theory and practical of learning
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your article and way you put on your thoughts about the important of learning through experience. Yes old lecturing method of learning has failed to meet end goal of our education system.
ReplyDeleteVery well explained concept of practical lessons
ReplyDeleteWell crafted article and I too feel the same as 21st century children are digital natives and internet has become their second home.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more to the above explained article
ReplyDeleteAgreed . Children explore themselves when given opportunity to do practical using ICT.
ReplyDeleteWell-versed article. There is depth in what you have expressed. Unlike 20th C learning, 21st C learning has more to do with practical lessons and the use of ICT is another strategy for effective learning. Children learn effectively with the use of ICT. The forum helps them become independent and explore on their needs. A good article.
ReplyDeleteI could connect your article to one of my favorite quotes, "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.Teach him how to fish and you teach him for a life time." Teaching is more of equipping our children with proper skills and processes as mentioned in your article though it might take sometime to convince everyone.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, our children learn more by doing not listening. Well observed and written.
ReplyDeleteThank u for your comment mam.
DeleteEffective use of digital platform for the learners
ReplyDeleteWell organized and clear reflection. Keep it up and keep on exploration.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments Dendup sir.
DeleteThe facts are noted.
ReplyDeleteThe learning by doing method is a hands-on activity. We are more likely to remember something if we had done it ourselves and not just read about it because reading about things can be hard when our brain doesn't have the context of what's going on.
ReplyDeleteStrongly agreed. These days children are more into the digital world and they learn more through practical.
ReplyDeleteLearning by doing is what i see in your lesson. I am very glade that, i can see you have good graphic skills which is plus point in teaching ICT la.
ReplyDeleteThank you for shearing la
